We specialise in helping you sell early photography, with free valuations for items that may have been tucked away for years. Magic lantern slides, old photograph albums, glass and celluloid negatives, stereoviews, postcards, prints, daguerreotypes and ambrotypes can all hold real interest for collectors, often sitting next to ephemera, books and comics or vintage memorabilia.
A single image can matter just as much as a complete album, especially when it captures a place, period or subject that is hard to find. We are particularly keen to see early photographs linked to Hong Kong, China, India and the Far East from before the 1950s. What we look for in early photographic material
Old photographic material often has value because of its age, rarity, subject matter or the format itself. We look closely at original processes such as daguerreotypes and ambrotypes, as well as albums that still tell a family, travel or military story from start to finish. Condition matters, but unusual scenes, named locations and strong historical detail can still make worn pieces worth assessing.
If you have loose prints mixed in with postcards or negatives, we can sort through them with an experienced eye instead of expecting you to know what is important.
